Responsive Web Design

Text from image: With increasing amounts of digital devices that display web content, the need is growing to become more and more flexible with design. Layouts must adapt to the wide range of different platforms in which users engage with on a daily basis. People no longer use just their desktop computer to view websites, or make online purchases. Many users browse internet content with their mobile phone or tablet, and apps don’t always provide the most efficient experience.

There are plenty of design and development techniques to keep website experiences consistent across multiple platforms. This trend towards responsive design has been with us for a few years, but surprisingly few interactive designers have made this part of their workflow. As designers, we should take advantage of these resources to keep our users engaged. Simple layout grids and CSS code have made it easy to keep our interfaces nimble and our clients visible as visitors bounce between the vast array of display sizes.
