The Challenge
Dexcom was under pressure to release its most significant product upgrade in the history of the company. The previous version of the mobile application lacked visual consistency creating a challenging user experience. Additionally, the new rollout required a mult-device rollout, which included wearables like the Apple Watch and Fitbit smartwatch.
The Approach
We utilized a holistic, human-centered approach that covered all aspects of the design. Our aim was to simplify complex information and deliver a user-friendly product that could be quickly understood by people from 5 to 95.

The Outcome
- Reduced Cognitive Burden: The G7’s simplified application and app design significantly reduce setup time and error rates, particularly improving usability for older adults.
- Better Data Utilization: Users benefit from real-time glucose monitoring with faster warm-up times, and the Dexcom Clarity integration provides actionable insights into dietary and activity impacts.
