Seer Bio
Designing a system for a software suite
The Challenge
Seer had already built a digital ecosystem that outpaced its competitors, but growth exposed a familiar problem: three critical software applications: Instrument Control Software (ICS), Proteograph Analysis Software (PAS), and the Customer Portal, had developed independently, creating inconsistencies in visual design, interaction patterns, and user flows that made the overall experience feel more fragmented than the product deserved.
For a company whose value proposition is making complex science easier to use, that gap carried real commercial risk as the platform scaled.
The Approach
FreshForm was engaged to lead UX and UI strategy, build a consolidated design system, and establish a scalable design and development workflow across Seer's web and software teams.
The work began with a contextual inquiry study involving current customers to understand how people actually used the tools before any design decisions were made. FreshForm then mapped unified user flows across all three applications, refined the information architecture, and produced a clickable prototype validated with customers before moving into visual UI design.
The engagement concluded with the delivery of a Figma-based UI component library and a documented Digital Design System distributed to Seer's design, development, and third-party teams, giving every contributor a single, authoritative reference for building what came next.
The Outcome
The completed design system gave Seer's product and engineering teams the foundation to build version 2.0 with speed, consistency, and shared standards across every digital touchpoint.

“Partnering with FreshForm was a serious turning point for Seer Bio. I can't thank FreshForm enough.”
