Veracyte

Ordering portal for HCPs

The Challenge

With launch on the calendar, the existing portal experience needed to meet the bar Veracyte's team had set: easy to use, on-brand, secure and compliant, and scalable for future product expansion.

The core constraint was platform-level due to an existing engineering and the Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS). No custom code, no workflow restructuring, no data logic changes.

Every improvement had to be achievable within Salesforce Experience Builder while applying Veracyte's Digital Design System consistently across the workflows providers touch most.

The Approach

The engagement was structured as two workstreams:

  • UI Design across three core flows: Portal Home (including a dashboard module designed for both launch and future scale), a multi-step Order Entry sequence, and a pre-submission Review Order screen.
  • Moderated User Testing sessions conducted on the live Salesforce sandbox environment, giving the team direct evidence of how providers behaved with the actual coded experience.

The Outcome

Veracyte launched an ordering portal experience validated against real provider behavior, a dashboard framework built to absorb future tests and functionality without redesign, and a documented set of design decisions the engineering team can implement without ambiguity.

The “city planning” approach to the home screen prepared the portal for grow alongside Veracyte's expanding test menu rather than requiring rework with each release.
